Kelley Watson has accepted the call of the Lord to World Missions. Kelley currently resides in Wallace, NC with her husband, Tony and their son. She nor her husband are strangers to traveling abroad. Kelley ministered to orphans in Kyrgyzstan in 2009 and Tony accompanied Evangelist Chris W. Edwards to preach revivals in Jamaica in 2009 as well.
I have always had a heart for missions, but after having a child, I thought that part of my life was over. But the Lord kept bringing things He had shown me many years ago, back to my mind. Images of me standing on a pile of rubble in a foreign land, the vision of buckets of water (the living water) sloshing out and spilling into the streets drawing His people to the Well! And one September evening in 2015 while in prayer, God had me turn to Isiah 55:3-5, which say "Incline your ear and come to Me. Hear, and you shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you - The sure mercies of David. Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people, a leader and commander for the people. Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, and nations who do not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, and the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified you." The churning in my spirit would not let me sleep until the next day when I could met with, Evangelist Chris W. Edwards. The urgency I felt in my spirit called for immediate obedience.
So here I am, now the Director of World Ministries and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for His people in Kenya and beyond! Continue to pray as in 2017 it is our hope to both return to Kenya for another outdoor crusade, as well as host Pastor Joseph here during our 2017 Freedom Campmeeting.
Many people think that World Missions is only for a certain kind of people, or for only those that want to 'preach'. I am here to tell you that is not so. World Missions is for ANYONE who is willing and able to go and show the love of Christ to the people. That is it in a nutshell. Traveling abroad is not for everyone, however it is an experience that I believe everyone should have. There is nothing like being in a foreign land and worshiping our Lord and Savior with brothers and sisters of another country.
Some are called to preach and spread the gospel throughout the world. We are ALL called to share the love of Christ throughout the world. Some are called to aid in special needs abroad. I heard a story of a couple that went on a mission trip many years ago, and on that trip the Lord softened their heart towards a child that was suffering from a physical disabilities. The surgery was very expensive and could only be done in the US. When that couple got home from their mission trip they went on to raise the funds to help that child that was so near and dear to their heart come to the US for the life changing surgery.
Our pastor recently said, "everything we do or don't do, has an everlasting effect on eternity". I want you to seriously think about that for a moment... Every time we obey God, it makes a difference. Every time we do not obey God, it makes a difference.
Now think again of that couple I was telling you about. To my knowledge, they have never returned to the missions field. Because of their ability and obedience to the Lord whom says "go ye into all the world..." that child's life has forever been changed. Now, had they not decided to go, that boy would still be suffering with his disability and would not have seen the love of Christ through that couple.
So, to answer the question "What is World Missions?" Well, it is going throughout the world, ministering to the people through preaching, sharing, caring, encouraging, and providing for their spiritual, emotional, and physical need. Sometimes all they need to know is that someone 'out there' cares about them. And what better way to show that than by going and visiting with the people that you have been praying for, or seeing pictures of, or been raising money for.
And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
